|Powys Archery Association held its 19th Annual Indoor Championship at Builth on Sunday 14th March. This is an important fixture in the Welsh Archery calendar and attracts top archers from across Wales. With over 70 competitors, clubs in Powys were well represented at the event and put in a good performance.|

In the ladies recurve, Sonya Ashworth, shooting for Irfon Valley Archers from Llanwrytd, went home with the bronze medal. The gents barebow gold medal was won by Lui Rocca and third place compound taken by Mike Field, both shooting for Red Kite. Among the juniors, Danny Pinder from Red Kite took bronze in the 16 to 18 age group, shooting in the category above his own age. Radnor Foresters did even better with Toby McClurg taking gold for the under 12 recurve class, and Andrew Brimer doing the same for the 12 to 14 age group in the barebow class.
Stephanie Nash, Vice Chairman for Powys Archery Association and tournament organiser said, ‘It’s brilliant to see so many top archers coming to Builth for this tournament and even better to see our own people doing so well. Archery is a sport that is open to all and this event really shows that with people of all ages from all over Wales coming to Builth to shoot.’ She went on to say, ‘We have several clubs in Powys which all welcome new members so why not come along and give it a go and you could be going home with a medal next year!’
