First PAA Outdoor County Shoot 18 July 2010
The first Outdoor County Shoot under the new name of Powys Archery Association was held on Sunday 18 July at Radnor Forestersí ground in Llandrindod.

Thirteen Powys archers took part with members from Radnor Foresters and Red Kite. There was a bit of a breeze and occasional light rain, but this did not deter everyone from putting in good performances.

In the gents recurve, Radnor Foresters hauled in the medals with Paul Pinder putting in an impressive score to take gold, putting two times winner Ashley Collins firmly in second place. Taking bronze was Graeme McClurg, PAA’s longest shooting member. Maria Melham won gold in the ladies recurve.

In the compound category, Mike Field from Red Kite stormed away with gold with Martin Nash from Radnor taking the silver.

There were good performances from the Juniors too, with Andrew and James Brimer taking gold and silver in the U14 barebow category, and Toby McClurg taking gold in the U14 recurve. One to watch out for in the future is Danny Pinder who although being under 16 shot as a senior and came 5th in the gents recurve.

This tournament is also the selection shoot for the County Team who will be representing Powys at the Inter County Championships in September. The provisional team will now be Paul, Ashley and Maria for senior recurve, Mike and Martin for compound and the Brimer twins for junior barebow.

Thanks to Radnor Foresters for hosting the event, to everyone for taking part and of course to Stephanie Nash for being judge and field captain.
