Powys Junior takes gold at Welsh Championships
Radnor Foresters junior archer Danny Pinder had a great day at the 2010 Welsh Junior Indoor Championships.....

Having spent all day Saturday at his first Welsh Junior Squad coaching Day at the Blandy Jenkins indoor archery facility at Llanharan , Danny went over to Llantarnam Leisure Centre on Sunday morning to compete in the Welsh Junior Championships . He shot in both the morning and the afternoon session as he was chasing selection scores for the Welsh team although only his morning session scores would count in the overall result of the championships.

Danny did a great job in the morning beating his personal best of 508 by more than 30 with a very good score of 542 . This was the highest U16 Gent recurve score of the morning session but with some very good archers shooting in the afternoon he would have to wait till later in the day to know if his score would be good enough .

Danny went on to shoot the afternoon session with no pressure as he knew that his score would not count to the days overall results . He again imporved on his now new PB of 542 with a score of 546 - again , a great performance .

These two scores give Danny a new U16 recurve Gent Portsmouth County record and a new Double Portsmouth County Record.

The awards presentation followed the afternoon session and we were pleased to find out that Dan's morning session score was indeed good enough and he took gold in the U16 Gents recurve section .

During the Presentation , the names of the archers selected for the Welsh team to compete in the home nations event at the National Junior Champs in Lilleshall in December were anounced and Danny was surprised to hear that as a result of his two scores shot at the Welsh champs , he was selected as one of the two Gent recurve archers alongside Andrew Davies , a U18 recurve archer.

Well done Danny from all at PAA.
