|Gwent open outdoor champs report|
|Roger smashes his York PB at the Gwent open|
4 Powys archers competed in the Gwent outdoor last Sunday on a day that had pretty torrential rain in the morning and strong gusty wind in the afternoon . Despite the conditions , all 4 archers came away from the day with medals .
By far the biggest achievement of the day came from Roger Davies who smashed a 2 year old PB for the york round . He beat his old PB by a massive 133 points and scored his first ever Bowman score of 920 . Along with this he took the bronze medal in the visitor category missing silver by only 1 point . Roger has been recently going through the pain of making some fairly major changes to his form and tecnique and it is great to see him enjoying the rewards of all that hard work.
Danny Pinder also shot a PB . He decided to shoot up two age categories and shoot the York . Again despite the conditions , Dan put another 41 points on his PB .
Both Ryan and his dad Paul dealt less well with the weather and didn't manage new PB,s but still , Ryan took gold in his age category and Paul took gold in the Visiting Gents category .
It would be nice to get a break from the Welsh summer every now and again but still , we had a good day . Next weekend Danny and Paul will be competing in the British Target champs at Lilleshall , I hope the weather is nicer to us .
